Aitona and visit to the Utxesa Nature Reserve

 

At this time of year and for a couple of weeks, the rural area of Aitona offers us the beautiful spectacle of its flowering fruit trees. We will walk through pink-tinted fields where we will have time to immerse ourselves in the landscape and take many photos. This is a quiet route with no slope.

We´ll eat at Lo Trull, a local restaurant with homemade food.

In the afternoon we will take a walk through the nearby Reserva Natural d'Utxesa, a reservoir in the Segre River basin built in 1912. There we will find a great diversity of flora and fauna, especially birds typical of humid areas.

Day of the excursion: Thursday, March 21st 
Minimum group of 7 people and maximum of 15 people.

What to bring: Comfortable shoes, water and a hat
Level:  Easy, all flat.

The journey to Aitona is about 1h:45m
We´ll stop during the ride for coffee.

The 6 km walk in the morning is between the fields. It can easily be less and just make it a short walk far enough to appreciate the trees. There is a nearby cafeteria with a sunny terrace.

We´ll eat at a local restaurant with a nice assorted menu popular for its roasted snails.

In the afternoon we´ll go Utxesa, a 10m drive. 
The walk along the lake is 4km it can be shorter or you might just decide to stay in the picnic area.

On the way back we´ll stop to have a quick coffee and use the restroom
